Peg and I heading out for a day of exploring.

Our lodge was the one in the upper left. Definitly the premier room at Cashew hill.

Cashew Hill has a sort of conference area for guests, who want to meet together, or simply lay in a hammock on the top floor and observe the beautiful surroundings. It's in the middle of the compound.

View of the other bungaloes at Cashew Hill Jungle lodge, from our doorway.

The view from our porch, looking down at the town of Puerto Viejo. Look closely you can see the ocean in the distance. At night the waves were pretty loud in a nice way......

Russ..exhausted after a long, tiring search for the A.C. switch! He finally gave in and decided..yes it's true there is no air conditioning in this jungle lodge. But at night it was very comfortable almost cold a few nights.

Coquita, a small village near one of costa Rica's many National Forests. This place has a ..let's just say "loose" reputation.... lot's of hard working "girls" here. Not that anythings wrong with that (Seinfeld reference)

Open air market at Limon, Costa Rica. This is a "port" town many cargo ships were lined up here picking up bananas and pineapples mostly.

Pineapples being harvested.

Two rivers merging in the rain forest. The one on the left is filled with volcanic ash. Notice the clouds just at treetop level...at this point we were pretty far up in the mountains, crossing Costa Rica headed to the Atlantic side.

Here is the lady herself Ms Helena! cook extraordinare..Costa Rican native..and former psych nurse from New Jersey...she grew tired of the daily grind, chasing after money in the U.S.A. and returned to her childhood home to open her little eatery...and we're glad she did!
